Transport company Juhani Tuominen Ltd was established in Orivesi in 1945. Its operations consist of forestry equipment contracting and log hauling.

The company operates as a Metsäliitto contractor. Other partners include Metsähallitus, UPM and Versowood. With added equipment, the number of personnel has increased to fifteen.

The current owners of the company are Juhani Tuominen, Tarja Tuominen and Jarkko Tuominen.

History

Armi and Vilho Tuominen began trucking timber in 1945 with a GMC truck (a.k.a. “Kempsu”) equipped with a cablelift made in Joutsa, Finland.

1966 Juhani Tuominen continued the timber and earthmoving transport business with one truck
1970 company specialised in timber trucking
1981 maintenance workshop completed
1988 Valmet 901 harvester and Lokomo 919 forwarder purchased at the end of the year
1991 second forwarder
1996 second harvester
1997 third forwarder and timber truck
2002 second maintenance workshop completed
2003 Metsäliitto contractor agreement
2006 transport agreement with Versowood
2008 harvesting contract with Metsähallitus

Machine automation engineer Jarkko Tuominen represents the third generation of family entrepreneurs in the current company.
